고려 말 한 시인이 만인산의 아름다운 경치에 취해 산정에 올라보니 “산봉우리가 마치 연꽃이 연달이 이어있는 듯하고
아흔아홉골짜기의 옥수 구슬 같은 맑은 물이 한내로 흘러가니 경관이 으뜸이다.”라고 극찬했다고 전해지는 이 산은 천하의 명당이라 예부터 알려진 산이다.
